Go-Board Moderators
Bryn Mawr Go-Board Moderators:
3-4 positions available. The Moderators of the go-board’s job is to make sure that discussion is respectful and follows the honor code, and that the boards run smoothly (IE that threads are posted in the proper forum). Moderators have the power to move topics between forums, edit other users posts (for posting warnings and the like), lock threads (preventing new posts from being made), and delete threads, if necessary, with the help of the honor board and SGA. The duties of the average moderator consists of logging on once every couple of days, looking over each forum to make sure that things are posted where they’re supposed to be (often events are posted in the Discussion board; moderators move such posts to the Events board, etc), and maybe reading potentially heated threads to make sure that discussion remains respectful (which, again, it usually does). The position requires as much time commitment as the moderators want – their job can be done pretty effectively in only about five minutes every day or two, and can be done form anywhere with internet access. No previous experience is necessary; the software we use makes moderation extremely simple. Students can be from ALL class years and may study abroad.
